Archaic Candour

Orsay museum hosts an exhibition dedicated to Douanier Rousseau “Archaic Candour”.

The avant-garde painter (1844-1910) was enthroned as the father of modernity. The Douanier Rousseau’s “Archaic Candour” is a critical investigation of his art based on a consideration of the notion of archaism itself.

Henri Rousseau’s masterpieces will be on display alongside works by Seurat, Delaunay, Kandinsky and Picasso . They will question the wealth of interconnections around the Douanier Rousseau, who stimulated his own way of exploring modernity and archaism.

Right after Venice in 2015, the exhibition is on display from March 22nd to July 17th 2016.
