Paris Plages
Every summer, the banks of the Seine and the La Villette Canal Basin turn into a seaside resort.
So you’d like to lay back in a sun lounger and read a book by the water’s edge? No need to travel great distances: from 8 July to 3 September, the beach comes to Paris!
Created in 2002, the Paris Plages event offers Parisians and visitors free places to relax and take advantage of leisureactivities during the hot summer days. There are cool lawns, sun umbrellas, deckchairs, palm trees, cultural and sports activities, but also swimming. Everything to cool off and enjoy the sunny weather.
Formerly held only on the right bank of the Seine, the event now extends to the whole of the new Parc Rives de Seine, the Quai de Loire at the La Villette Canal Basin and other sites (including the square in front of the City Hall, the Louis Lumière stadium in the 20th arrondissement, and the Elisabeth Stadium in the 14th). As the summer season promises to be sunnier than ever, Paris rolls out its seaside charm!
